Cherokee Parks Inc. c/o Dennis Tiziani has applied to the Department of Natural Resources for a permit to divert a maximum of 1800 gallons per minute (4.01 CFS) from the unnamed waterbody (WBIC 5574081 or “Pond 4”) connected to the Yahara River up to seventy times per year between April 15 and Oct. 15 of each year for the purpose of irrigating the newly renovated golf course.
The project is proposing to use the water to irrigate 72 tillable acres (69 riparian acres & 3 contiguous acres) on the property using the newly installed upgraded irrigation system that will utilize technology in the equipment and software control system to apply irrigation water when and where needed in a more specific target area thus reducing the over-application of water.
There have been no significant upgrades to the irrigation system since it was originally constructed over 60 years ago. Cherokee Parks Inc.’s proposed withdrawal will be restricted to an annual diversion of no more than 32,788,800 gallons pumped and will be required to keep a record and report the water use to the Department’s Water Use Section.

Public Comment Period
• Members of the public who wish to speak with the Sporting Heritage Council should pre-register by sending an email to Scott Loomans at least 24 hours prior to the meeting.
Discussion of U.S. House Bill HF8167 (Potential Action Item)
• This bill would repeal the excise taxes on firearms, ammunition, bows, and arrows, as well as the excise tax on transferring and making firearms under the National Firearm Act. Instead of using these excise taxes to fund Fish and Wildlife Restoration through the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act, the bill would instead establish a Wildlife Conservation and Restoration Subaccount, capped at $800M annually, funded through oil and gas revenues.
• Gauge interest from the Sporting Heritage Council to formally support the Pittman-Robertson Act and the fund’s importance in the context of the bill.
