Public hearing on pier construction proposal in Walworth Co.
Date: 04/04/2022
Time: 4:00 p.m. - End of Agenda
Location: Virtual
Luke S. Roffler, luke.roffler@wisconsin.gov or 262-354-4569
The DNR will hold a public hearing on a proposal to install new pier structures in Walworth County.
Garth Chambers (Paloma Geneva National LLC) has applied for a permit to place new pier structures on Lake Como. The project is located in the SW 1/4, SE 1/4, Section 29, Township 02N, Range 17E, in the Town of Geneva.
The proposed project consists of constructing new pier structures along the shoreline of Lake Como. The revised proposal includes ten new pier structures, each 100’ in length with 5’ wide mainstems and 4’ wide lateral stems. The proposed structures will be built with semi-transparent decking to allow sunlight transmission beneath the structures. Each proposed pier structure will include ten slips, for a total of 100 new slips.
The proposed pier structures will be spaced approximately 50’ apart and will be designed to be ADA compliant. The applicant will also finalize a deed restriction for approximately 4,700 linear feet of wetland frontage to the west of the project site, which will prohibit future development of piers, wharves, or moorings to protect sensitive wetland and aquatic habitat.
The DNR has made a tentative determination that it will issue the permit for the proposed activity. If you would like to know more about this project or would like to see the application and plans, please visit the DNR’s permit tracking website and search for IP-SE-2021-65-02924.
