Wisconsin Invasive Species Council Presents Their Regulatory Recommendations For NR 40
Date: 02/28/2024
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Location: Virtual
Mackenzie Manicki, Mackenzie.Manicki@wisconsin.gov, 608-206-4561
The Wisconsin Invasive Species Council is holding a series of four virtual events to present their proposed revisions to Wisconsin’s Invasive Species Identification, Classification, and Control Rule (Chapter NR 40, Wis. Adm. Code). The governor-appointed council advises the department and the state legislature on invasive species issues, including Chapter NR 40.
These sessions aim to maintain transparency with the public and request questions and feedback related to the council’s proposed regulations ahead of the official rule-making process.
Each session will host a group of Species Assessment Groups (SAGs). SAGs are experts and representatives from stakeholder groups who provide input to the council on specific species.
This session will host the following SAGs: No Commercial Use Plants and Agronomic Plants. These SAGs will cover potentially invasive plants that are not common in trade but may pose threats and plants that may be used in farming, have escaped from agricultural use or pose potential threats to the state’s agronomic industry.
More information, including how to register for these events, all slide shows, and lists of species and regulatory recommendations, can be found on the Wisconsin Invasive Species Council website.
