Laboratory services
The DNR receives laboratory data from many sources for environmental monitoring. This environmental monitoring is done for compliance with state and federal rules, investigating environmental problems, determining baseline quality, verifying cleanup activities and determining trends.
The DNR does not operate its own laboratory. Those interested in obtaining laboratory services should refer to the Certified Laboratories Lists. Laboratories interested in obtaining information on becoming certified or register should refer to the Laboratory Certification program. For laboratories and regulated facilities interested in electronically submitting environmental monitoring data see:
Laboratory Data Entry System (LDES)
This system is used to transmit environmental monitoring data from facilities and laboratories to the DNR. The system will then route the data (see diagram) to the appropriate databases in the DNR.
This data system was developed in order to:
- reduce data entry and keypunch errors;
- reduce workload for labs/facilities/DNR;
- update and streamline processes; and
- allow easier access to data by DNR staff.
In addition, key features of this system include:
- allows labs/facilities to submit electronic results;
- ability to store additional information; and
- warehousing the data in one database.
