Continuing education for drillers and pump installers
More than 1000 licensed drillers and pump installers attend Wisconsin DNR approved continuing education annually. Attendance is at training approved for the license or registration that they hold. Six credits are required for each credential each calendar year. They may be required to attend training on a specific topic or limited in the number of credits obtained from other areas such as safety. Sessions attended for credit cannot be repeated within a 3-year period.
All DNR approved in-person training is posted to the interactive Approved Training Event Calendar. Approved on-demand training is posted to the Online Driller/Pump Installer Training.
Training providers are tasked with reporting attendance within 10 business days of completion if the training is approved for continuing education credit by the DNR. A driller or pump installer who attends training that is not approved will need to report their attendance using Form 3300-190. See Form 3300-190 Training Report Instruction for more information. Further details are provided in the sections that follow.

Licensed driller and pump installer requirements
Wisconsin driller and pump installer credentials expire on December 31 each year. Credentials must be renewed to maintain an active status going into the next calendar year. Licensed individuals who have met continuing education attendance requirements for the current calendar year are eligible to renew for the next year. Six hours of attendance at approved training are needed each year for each license held. Continuing education attendance is not required during the first calendar year in which an individual obtains a license for the first time.
Failure to fulfill calendar year continuing education attendance requirements by December 31 will result in license expiration without renewal eligibility. A passing score on an exam is needed to reinstate the license.
Registered drilling rig operator CE requirements
Wisconsin drilling rig operator registrations expire on December 31 each year. Rig operator credentials must be renewed to maintain an active status going into the next calendar year. Rig operators who have met continuing education attendance requirements for the current calendar year are eligible to renew for the next year. Six hours of attendance at approved training are needed each year for each registration held. Continuing education attendance is not required during the first calendar year that a rig operator registers for the first time. Note that attendance is required in the first calendar year if a rig operator intends to apply for a driller license and allocate drilling experience from the first calendar year towards license application requirements of NR 146.04(2)(a & b) and NR 146.04(9)(a).
Failure to fulfill calendar year continuing education requirements by December 31 will result in loss of the rig operator registration. The credential expires without eligibility for renewal. The rig operator must then reapply for registration.

Continuing education application and attendance reporting
Training providers will use Form 3300-322 o apply for continuing education approval. The training venue will determine how fields within the application are completed. A simple guide to completing the application is available here: Form 3300-322 Training Provider Application Instruction.
Report training attendance within 10 business days of completion using the following form: Training Attendance Spreadsheet [XLS]. See Training Attendance Spreadsheet Instruction for guidance.
Entries into application form fields and attendance data submitted on the Training Attendance Spreadsheet are uploaded to a DNR database. Incomplete or incorrect application and attendance submittals are purged during the DNR’s auto-upload process. Processing of the application is delayed as forms are returned for correction and resubmittal.
A Training Attendee Log Sheet is available to providers and training attendees to record attendance at in-person training events. Use of this form is optional. Log sheets should not be used to report attendance to the DNR. Transfer log sheet entries to the Training Attendance Spreadsheet [XLS] before submitting the attendance to the DNR.

Attendance may not be repeated for continuing education credit within a 3-year period. More details are available at the following links:
