Historical Air Emissions Information
The DNR first developed its web-based Air Reporting System (ARS) in 1995. Today, more than 1,650 emissions inventories and 600 Under Thresholds Notifications (UTNs) are submitted annually by facilities to the DNR via ARS.
ARS calculates process, device, and facility level criteria air pollutant, federal hazardous air pollutant, state hazardous air pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions. Process level emissions calculations are based on user-entered throughputs (e.g. gallons of diesel fuel combusted), either EPA WebFIRE or facility specific emission factors (e.g. pounds of pollutant per gallon diesel fuel combusted), and applicable control efficiencies (e.g. 95% control of particulate matter). Alternatively, users can report process level emissions based on mass balance, continuous emissions monitor system (CEMS) data, etc. ARS then totals device and facility level emissions by pollutant and compares reported emissions to the Table 1, ch. NR 438.03, Wis. Adm. Code reporting levels/thresholds.
Submitted annual air emissions inventories are transmitted by DNR to EPA’s Emissions Inventory System (EIS), as required by 40 CFR 51, and are made available to the public as described on this webpage.

Interactive Maps
The Air Management Data Viewer (AMDV) is DNR's web-based mapping application that provides information about air permitted facilities, facility emissions and air quality monitoring sites in Wisconsin. The viewer also identifies federally-designated nonattainment and Class I areas.
The Department of Health Services offers a web-based mapping application that provides information about air emissions in Wisconsin: Wisconsin EPH Tracker.
