Northern Zone River Otter Trapping Season Closing Early

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced the closure of the river otter trapping season in the Northern Zone effective April 1, 2024, at midnight. Trappers are projected to reach the statewide harvest quota of 2,500 river otters within the next week.

The Wisconsin Conservation Congress (WCC) and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invite the public to attend spring hearings on April 8 at 6 p.m. to learn about resource management through the annual Fish and Wildlife Spring Hearing process. Additionally, an online opportunity for public input will be available from noon on Wednesday, April 10 through noon on Saturday, April 13.
