The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) awarded a grant from the Wisconsin Assessment Monies (WAM) program to the city of Portage. The WAM program provides contractor services for environmental assessment worth up to $35,000 for eligible sites. The DNR awarded the grant to the city of Portage for a property in the city’s downtown that has been abandoned and left to the elements since 2018.
During the 2020 hunting season, hunters may spot deer that are equipped with radio collars. Collared deer are part of a mortality study in the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and are legal to hunt with a standard Wisconsin hunting license and harvest authorization.
Due to public health advisories, the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board (NRB) will meet virtually on Sept. 23 to consider authorizing several preliminary public hearing and comment periods and informational items.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) now has a GIS-based map available that offers a statewide look at many of the state's successful brownfield cleanup and redevelopment projects since the passage of the Land Recycling Act in 1995.

As requested by Gov. Tony Evers in the 2019-2021 Biennial Budget, the DNR conducted a survey of the state's fire departments to determine their use of PFAS-containing, or fluorinated, firefighting foams. This survey was designed to help the DNR better understand how much, how often and why fluorinated foam is used across Wisconsin.
