Richard Bong State Recreation Area

There are two family (modern) campgrounds with a total of 217 campsites, 54 with electric hookups. Six group campsites can accommodate 225 campers. There is also a cabin designed specifically for people with disabilities.

Reservations

Camping reservations are required for all campsites and can be made up to 11 months in advance of your planned date of occupancy. Campers must make a reservation before setting up on any site.

Sunrise campground

The sunrise campground offers electric and non-electric campsites as well as some sites accessible for people with disabilities. Campground amenities include a shower building, flush and vault toilets, a dump station and a playground area.

The sunset campground offers electric and non-electric campsites as well as some sites accessible for people with disabilities. Campground amenities include a shower building, flush and vault toilets, dump station and a playground area.

Accessible cabin for people with disabilities

An accessible cabin for people with disabilities is available at the property. The cabin has electricity, heat and air conditioning, a stovetop, microwave, refrigerator, two fully automated hospital beds, a Hoyer lift, a full-sized sofa bed, two cots, a kitchen table and chairs, a modern bathroom with a wheel-in shower and commode chair, screened porch, and an outdoor accessible fire ring.

Firewood

Firewood is sold at the Molinaro Visitor Center/Headquarters parking lot through a firewood vending machine which is open 24/7. It is a credit card only.
