Newport State Park
Newport State Park offers a variety of recreation opportunities.
Accessibility
Newport State Park offers an array of accessible opportunities, including an accessible picnic shelter a paved walkway to the beach and a beach wheelchair. For more information on the beach wheelchair, contact the park office.
Fern/Europe Bay Trail is a flat and wide universal trail paved with crushed limestone and segmented with the boardwalk. The Discovery Pen located at the park office is filled with auditory and tactile messages created for the Fern/Europe Bay Trail.

Biking
Boating, canoeing and kayaking
There is not a boat launch at the park. Users of small watercraft or floatation devices should be aware of the wind conditions on Lake Michigan. Strong west winds can blow watercraft away from the shoreline. Parents, watch your children at all times. Rubber rafts and other boats require personal floatation devices.

Fishing
Fishing is available in Lake Michigan and Europe Lake in the northern part of the park. Fishing licenses apply.
Hiking
Hunting and trapping
Hunting and trapping are allowed in the open areas of the park during the Wisconsin state parks hunting and trapping time frame. Trapping is not permitted in closed areas, as noted on the park hunting map or within 100 yards of any designated use area, including trails. Certain trap types are restricted on state park properties. For more information, please see:

Picnic areas
There is a picnic area on Newport Bay by parking lot #3.
The accessible shelter in the picnic area at Newport State Park can be reserved.

Winter activities
Over 26 miles of trails are open for cross-country skiing. There are 12 miles of groomed and tracked trails for classical skiing, and two miles are groomed for skate skiing. About five miles of trails are open for snowshoeing.
