Picnic Areas and Shelters

Mirror Lake State Park has three separate picnic areas for visitors to enjoy. Each area also has an accessible picnic shelter. The Beach and Bluewater Bay shelters are both reservable.

Beach Picnic Area

This large picnic area surrounding the swimming beach at Mirror Lake State Park has picnic tables and grills throughout. The swimming beach is popular during summer (no lifeguards on duty). There is also a sand volleyball court - nets are provided but bring your own volleyball. Other amenities include a playground, vault toilets, drinking fountains and a reservable picnic shelter.

A designated pet picnic area is located across the road from the beach shelter. Please remember pets are prohibited in all other areas, including the swimming beach.

Beach Shelter

The shelter at the beach is an open shelter with electricity and a grill. The shelter is accessible and has a drinking fountain about 75 yards away. Vault toilets are nearby. Capacity is for 30 people. The shelter is available for use year-round when not reserved. The shelter can be reserved from May 1 through Columbus Day weekend.

Bluewater Bay Picnic Area

The Bluewater Bay picnic area is adjacent to the Bluewater Bay Campground and the park amphitheater. The picnic area has a large, open grass field, playground, reservable shelter and sand volleyball court - nets are provided but bring your own volleyball.

Bluewater Bay Shelter

The Bluewater Bay Shelter is a large, open shelter. It is accessible for persons with disabilities and has electricity and a large grill. A drinking fountain, vault toilets and a flush toilet building are nearby. The shelter's capacity is 80 people. The shelter is available for use from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and it is closed for use outside the reservation period.

Boat Landing Picnic Area

The boat landing picnic area is adjacent to the boat rental concession stand and the main boat landing on Mirror Lake. Both the boardwalk and fishing pier are wheelchair accessible. Picnic tables and grills are scattered throughout the area and there is also a small picnic shelter. Vault toilets and drinking fountains are available.

Pets are allowed throughout the boat landing picnic area, but are not allowed in the shelter. Pets must be on a leash no longer than 8 feet and under control at all times.

Boat Landing Shelter

The boat landing shelter is accessible for persons with disabilities. It is an open shelter and has electricity and a grill. Vault toilets are nearby. The capacity is 16 people.

The boat landing shelter is not reservable.
