Picnic Areas and Shelters
Kettle Moraine State Forest – Lapham Peak Unit
There are three picnic areas in the forest at Evergreen Grove, Homestead Hollow and the observation tower. Two areas have shelters that can be reserved.
Reservations
Reserve a shelter online.
For shelter reservations, please remember that wheeled vehicles and trailers are not allowed on the grass. Temporary parking is allowed on walkways for loading/unloading food and supplies. Tape is the only material allowed for hanging decorations and must be removed.
Evergreen Lodge
The Evergreen Lodge is at the lower parking lot area and has electric heat, indoor bathrooms, water and a wood stove. The building has a capacity of 50 and includes six plastic round tables and 36 chairs. The Evergreen Lodge can be reserved during the non-ski season.
Evergreen Open-air Shelter
The Evergreen open-air shelter has six picnic tables. A restroom is nearby in the Evergreen Lodge.
Mike Fort Shelter
The Mike Fort shelter has eight picnic tables. A restroom is near the parking lot.
Trecker Lodge
Trecker Lodge is in the Homestead Hollow area. There is a heated restroom building at the parking lot. A lighted pathway leads down to the Lodge. There is electric heating, a water fountain and a fireplace. The building has a capacity of 100, with nine plastic round tables and 75 chairs.
Hausmann Nature Center
The Hausmann Nature Center is available for reservations by contacting the park office at 262-646-3025.
