Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area
Hiking
There are more than 9 miles of hiking trails at Hoffman Hills, including two miles of interpretive nature trails. Hike through a 15-acre tall grass prairie restoration or view wildlife along a one-mile wetland trail that's accessible for people with disabilities. Bicycles, motor vehicles and horses are not allowed on the trails. Trail map.
A 60-foot-high observation tower offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
Pets are not allowed at Hoffman Hills.
Hunting
Hoffman Hills is open for the regular nine-day gun deer season in November. The area is not open for any other hunting or trapping seasons.

There are three picnic areas in Hoffman Hills.
Winter activities
There are 9 miles of ski trails that vary in difficulty and are groomed for both stride and skate styles of skiing. Sleds, snowboards, snowshoes and hikers are not allowed on groomed ski trails. Skiers age 16 years and older must have a state trail pass.
There's an off-trail snowshoe area in the western part of the property.
