Endangered resources certification training

Endangered resources (ER) certification training provides non-DNR individuals with comprehensive training on how to write a proposed ER Review Letter. Certified reviewers are authorized to conduct their own ER Reviews that have a sign-off from the DNR. For more information, please see the frequently asked questions.

Our current list of certified reviewers comes from a wide range of backgrounds including private consultants, utilities, government and more.

2025 Training dates

All training sessions will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Training application and program guidelines

Follow the steps below to get trained:

  1. Read the program guidelines carefully to fully understand the procedures, objectives and standards of the certification program.
  2. Fill out the certification application to attend training. We encourage you to come to the training even if you’re not sure about becoming fully certified — to see if it would be a good fit.
  3. Email your application and supporting materials to Angela White.

How much does it cost?

Application ($140) + Exam 1 ($360) + Exam 2 ($460) = Total: $960 ($180 every two years to maintain your certification status).

In addition to the certification fees, a company should also take into consideration the cost of an annual data-sharing agreement, which is needed to obtain Natural Heritage Inventory information and write proposed ER Reviews.
