Long Lake Public Access Parking Lot And Boat Launch To Close For Construction

EDITOR'S NOTE: The project timeline has been adjusted. This new version updates it to begin in the fall of 2024, with construction continuing into winter. The boat launch will remain open to use until construction begins.
CASCADE, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced a temporary closure of the Long Lake Public Access parking lot and boat launch located at the Long Lake Recreation Area of the Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit, N3450 Division Rd., Cascade, Wisconsin.
The temporary closure is expected to begin in the fall of 2024 with work continuing into winter. While the parking lot and boat launch are under construction, the boat launch will not be available for visitors to use. The launch and parking lot will remain closed to all public access for the duration of the construction project.
This closure will allow for improvements to the parking lot and full replacement of the boat launch and amenities.
Work at the Long Lake Public Access site will involve the construction of longer aprons, a floating pier and an improved asphalt and concrete drive to the launch. The slope of the driveway is also being adjusted to meet accessibility requirements. These updates will improve the launch's safety, make boat launching easier and improve accessible parking.
The Long Lake Public Access at the Long Lake Recreation Area is the only public boat launch located on Long Lake. To find other lakes in the area with public launch access, visit the DNR’s interactive boat access map.
