DNR To Host Gov. Thompson Fish Hatchery Open House
SPOONER, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will host an open house at the Governor Tommy G. Thompson Fish Hatchery in Spooner on Saturday, Sept. 30.
The open house will give attendees a chance to learn how a fish pump works, explore a stocking truck and see walleye and muskellunge up close. People of all ages and backgrounds are invited and encouraged to attend.
Governor Tommy G. Thompson fish hatchery is the state’s largest cool water hatchery and the world’s largest muskellunge hatchery. Every year, the walleye and muskellunge raised at the hatchery are stocked into waterbodies across the state as a management tool to restore, maintain and enhance fish populations.
This is one of four upcoming open houses planned at DNR fish hatcheries.
