2020 Wildlife Survey Results Now Available
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced that the latest results for a variety of wildlife surveys are now available on the DNR website.
The wildlife reports are divided into surveys addressing five species groups: small game, big game, waterfowl, furbearers and nongame. Interpretations of data in these reports are subject to change as a result of data verification and more extensive data analysis.
Results from these reports will be used by wildlife program managers to inform them on harvest, participation and hunter efforts and opinions to help them make decisions on species management. DNR staff and dedicated volunteers conducted the surveys throughout 2020.
“The DNR thanks everyone who took part in these studies, whether through observation reports, survey participation or harvest registration,” said Brian Dhuey, DNR Wildlife Population and Harvest Assessment Specialist. “Thanks to their continued commitment to wildlife, we will be able to make data-driven decisions on how to best manage species across Wisconsin.”
These reports were made possible through federal funding authorized by the Wildlife Restoration Act (also known as the Pittman-Robertson Act).
