The Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary provides stewardship for our nation’s maritime heritage in Lake Michigan, including 36 nationally significant historic shipwrecks. Join Russ Green, the sanctuary's superintendent, to learn about the sanctuary, focusing on notable shipwrecks, research and community engagement.
Designated in Aug. 2021, the sanctuary is co-managed by NOAA and the state of Wisconsin.
Russ has worked in Great Lakes conservation for 20 years and contributed to dozens of maritime archeology projects along the east and west coasts of Bermuda, Micronesia, and Japan. He regularly leads fieldwork in the Great Lakes.
