Community Science Day

Description

Have you ever wanted to see a bird up close and in the hand, tag a monarch or learn how to catch dragons and damsels? Join us as we welcome experts to showcase all the ways that you can build your community science skills!

7 - 11 a.m. – Watch Riveredge Nature Center bird bander, Jana, up close

9:30 - 11:30 a.m. – Join members of the Wisconsin Dragonfly Society to learn tricks on identification and how to catch these flying phenoms.

10 a.m. - 1 p.m. – Representatives from Rock River Coalition, a local non-profit, will demonstrate how to sample for and identify aquatic macroinvertebrates – insects, shellfish and other critters that live underwater. These animals can give us clues about how healthy and clean our waters are. 

12:30 - 2 p.m. – Tag a monarch at the beginning of its journey to Mexico

Snapshot Wisconsin is a community science project for monitoring wildlife through a state-wide network of trail cameras. Snapshot's table will feature a Wildlife ID matching game, trail camera-themed coloring sheets and information on a variety of ways to join the Snapshot community!

The event will be held at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center located at N7725 Highway 28, Horicon, WI.
