Learn to Hunt Turkey - Dane County
Description
Learn to scout, process, and hunt wild turkey during this adult oriented long form class with members from Glacier Valley Gobblers. (3911 Fish Hatchery Rd, Fitchburg, WI 53711) This class will meet multiple times with the outings dedicated to different aspects of turkey hunting. This will culminate into a one-on-one hunting trip with an experienced mentor. The schedule for the classes is below:
- March 21: 6 - 8 p.m. Introduction to Turkey Hunting at the Fitchburg Service Center
- March 25: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Scouting at the University of WI Arboretum
- March 28: 3 - 7 p.m. Range and Butcher Day at Sauk Prairie Trap Club
- March 31: 4 - 7 p.m. Final Planning at Merrimac Conservation Club
- Hunt Days: April 1 and 2, location is to be determined.
To sign up for this class, go to https://gowild.wi.gov and log in to your GoWild account. You will be prompted to confirm your customer information. If you do not yet have a GoWild account, click the link to “Create a New Account” next to the Log In button. You will be prompted to enter your social security number, date of birth and driver's license information.
Navigate to your Safety Education Dashboard and click "manage safety education." Under current classes, click "search for class." Enter the course type (Learn to Hunt or Fish for Dinner) and county of interest. If a message pops up with "No classes found. Please try a different search criteria," this means that all classes are currently full. Please check back at a later date.
Find the class you wish to join and click "enroll." If enrollment was successful, a note will pop up with "Success! You have successfully enrolled in the class." You will receive an email confirmation from GoWild at the address listed in your GoWild account.
Instructors will be able to view the class roster and will reach out to you via email with additional information and a detailed registration form.
