Description

Scouts Service Project: Pick Up America Pledge Litter Collection – 9:30-11 a.m. South Entrance

Make your pledge to pick up litter from public lands! https://pickupamerica.com/girlscouts

Meet us at the South Entrance to Lakeshore State Park to receive all the materials you will need to help clean up litter from Lakeshore safely. Take a selfie with our DNR Naturalist showing how many bags you collected! For those looking to really make a dent in litter collection, Girl Scouts and their families are also invited to pick up gloves and garbage bags at Lakeshore and travel to any point along the Hank Aaron State Trail. Maps provided! Families and the general public are welcome.

Refreshing Flower Flavors! Make your own wild flavored lemonade or iced tea – Drop-In Event between Noon and 2 p.m. North Entrance

Discover the wild flavors of Lakeshore State Park’s edible flowers! Muddle wild bergamot, anise hyssop or mountain mint to flavor a glass of lemonade or iced tea. After your refreshing floral-flavored drink, take a scavenger hunt through the park to find these three flowers! Scout’s families and the general public are welcome. We will be located near the North Entrance to Lakeshore State Park. Instructions will be provided for Scouts, friends and families to make their own flavored beverages at home. (Also counts toward Juniors’ Flowers badge.)

Make and Take Bee Houses – Drop-In Event between 3-4:30 p.m. Kids’ Prairie

Join us at the Kids’ Prairie across from the Pebble Beach to meet the pollinators who call Lakeshore State Park home. Check out our insect hotel, then learn to make your own bee house to take home and hang in your yard, school or local park. Scouts’ families and general public welcome. (Also counts toward Brownies’ Bugs badge.)

Beach “Bonfire” – 7-9 p.m.

Stop by the pebble beach, make a s’more, warm up by the fire, and meet the Park staff on your stroll through the park! Donations to the Friends of Lakeshore State Park to support these events are welcomed, but not required.
