Explore the Outdoors Program

Description

Participants will be given the opportunity to gain base-level knowledge in a variety of outdoor skills. Techniques for tree identification will be presented to help participants become more aware of and familiar with these northern woods, and map and compass navigation skills will be offered as means of traveling through them. 

Through ring growth and tree aging, participants will have the opportunity to read the story of the northwoods through a perspective other than their own, and with the practice of Leave No Trace principles, participants will be ensuring future generation’s opportunities to experience the same feelings of wildness and wonder that the beloved northwoods bring today.
