Learn To Ice Fish

Join Madison Parks, Access Ability Wisconsin and volunteers from the Wisconsin DNR for a free ice fishing clinic.
This event is meant for individuals ages 7 and up to learn to ice fish safely. All children must be supervised by an adult.
Advanced registration is necessary to attend, and attendance waivers will be signed on-site. Loaner fishing equipment and all supplies will be provided. An all-terrain track chair will be on site so that people with mobility limitations can learn about ways to stay active in the outdoors.
This event is free to attend. Class size is limited to 25. You can register online on the city of Madison website or by phone at 608-266-4711.
A Wisconsin fishing license is required. Discounted license options are available, including:
- First-time buyer license – for those who haven't fished Wisconsin before or want to return to fishing after at least ten years without a license.
- One-day fishing license – for anglers who want to try Wisconsin fishing for one day only.
- Resident anglers who recruit someone new to purchase a first-time buyer license can earn points toward a reduced-price license of their choice.
- Active-duty military on furlough or leave who are Wisconsin residents and veterans.
