Pets
Whitefish Dunes State Park
Pets are not allowed on the section of beach from the nature center to the Third Beach access from April 1 to Nov. 1. The pet beach access is about a 0.75-mile walk from the parking lot. To reach this area, walk your pet from the parking area down the Red Trail and then onto the beach. Here are a few simple rules to ensure that you, your pet and other visitors will enjoy the park. These rules apply to all pets except service animals assisting people with disabilities.
- Pets must be on a leash no longer than 8 feet at all times.
- Be a responsible pet owner and clean up after your pet.
- Pets are prohibited in state buildings and picnic areas.

The beach access ramp near the nature center and the second access stairway south of the nature center have been posted with "No Pets" signs. Park staff monitors pet activity on the beach very closely.
