Richard Bong State Recreation Area

Richard Bong State Recreation Area is designated a Managed Hunt property. A $1 daily Managed Hunt Permit is required to hunt all species except pheasant. The permit may be purchased at the property office (Visitor Center) when the property office is open. At all other times, the electronic sales kiosk (outside the entrance station) or self-registration boxes must be used to pay the daily $1 Managed Hunt fee. Rifles and all firearms are allowed for hunting at Richard Bong. Target shooting and sighting-in firearms are prohibited.

Please check all hunting regulations. All hunters need a Wisconsin hunting license, a stamp applicable to the species being hunted, and a vehicle admission sticker. You must purchase before hunting. Refer to page 2 of the Richard Bong Hunting Map for property-specific hunting regulations. Call 262-878-5601 for hunting times and questions specific to the property, including questions about the universal hunting blind.

Waterfowl Hunting

Waterfowl hunting south of Highway 142 must be from a blind or post. Jumpshooting is only allowed north of Highway 142. Blinds, posts and jumpshooting areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis or by reservation. The number of hunters allowed on the property is limited.

When waterfowl hunters arrive to hunt, there will be a clipboard located at the kiosk at the entrance station parking lot. If you have a reservation, your name will be listed. Proceed to your blind. If you do not have a reservation, list your name at the blind, post or jumpshooting spot you will use, then proceed. All hunters must pay the $1 daily hunting fee.
