Lower Pecatonica River watershed (SP07)

The Lower Pecatonica River watershed is in southeastern Lafayette County. It is an agricultural watershed. As with many other watersheds in the basin, the Wisconsin DNR lacks water quality data about its streams. Some high-quality wetlands exist along the Pecatonica River, including oxbow lake, shallow water marsh, lowland forest and southern sedge meadow wetland complexes. Wetlands along streams in this watershed should be protected because there are few acres of wetlands in this region. Public acquisition of the higher quality wetlands complexes should be considered.
