Limited-Term Employment (LTE) Warden Positions
Warden Recruitment
Limited-Term (LTE) Conservation Warden
Do you have a passion for the outdoors and protecting our Natural Resources? Does working in one of our state parks, forests or trails and having an office with a view sound like a job you would enjoy?
Our LTE Conservation Warden position is similar to a seasonal position and is a good way to obtain law enforcement experience. This position generally begins in April or May and works full time (40 hours per week) through the summer, typically ending September or October. We are seeking individuals for these positions who possess skills in customer service, the ability to communicate effectively, the ability to learn, a passion for the outdoors, and a strong desire to help others. Our LTE Conservation Warden hiring process mirrors our full-time (FTE) Warden hiring process and there may be opportunities for individuals with no prior law enforcement experience to be hired and attend our law enforcement certification academy while being paid to do so.
If this sounds like the job for you, contact a member of our Warden Recruitment team for more information at DNRLERecruitment@wisconsin.gov.
Duties and Roles include:
- Enforcing state laws and ensuring the safety of visitors in state parks, forests and DNR-owned lands. This includes enforcement of NR 45 (state land regulations), enforcement of all other state laws, conducting general patrol, and ensuring public safety within state properties;
- Opportunities to work with FTE Conservation Wardens;
- Enforcing hunting, fishing, trapping, snowmobile, ATV, and boating laws;
- Help maintain equipment (ATV, UTV, Snowmobile, boats, etc.) for FTE conservation wardens;
- Professional development opportunity (an excellent way to gain valuable law enforcement experience and develop skill sets for future FTE opportunities);
- Opportunities to assist and organize special enforcement details.
