Natural Features
Flambeau River State Forest
Little Falls Slough Gundy
Great place for a picnic, fishing or viewing the rugged whitewater of the South Fork of the Flambeau River. Lots of beautiful cedar trees, huge boulders and rushing water with the peaceful elegance of a pine forest.
Sobieski Flowage
Located in the southeastern section of the forest, the Sobieski Flowage was once an active cranberry farm. The Rough Grouse Society, Plaza Farms, the Wildlife Restoration Association and the DNR purchased the property. The area includes a medium size flowage, waterfowl nesting area and several miles of hunter walking trails.
Bass Lake
In 1983, Bass Lake was designated a wilderness lake to protect and perpetuate its natural beauty. The area provides fishing, hunting and sightseeing opportunities. To preserve this pristine natural setting, no motors or camping are allowed.
