Trout-Nace Creek Fishery Area

Trout (Nace) Creek originates in east central Portage County and flows easterly into west central Waupaca County to near the city of Iola where it joins the south branch of the Little Wolf River about a mile below the Iola Millpond. It contains clear, hard water and is rated as a class I trout stream. The Department manages one 46 acre parcel of land at the northwest corner of the intersection of Wasrud and Trout Creek Roads in section 30 of Iola Township. Trout-Nace Creek Fishery area is located in the Forest Transition Ecological landscape. This property contains areas of tamarack and swamp hardwoods, white pine, alder and a small abandoned agricultural field.

Objective

The main goal of the Trout-Nace Creek Fishery Area is to provide trout fishing opportunities to the public while preserving trout spawning habitat and protecting and enhancing water quality in this watershed. Wooded areas are managed to produce a sustainable yield of wood fiber products.
