Sand Creek Fishery Area (Polk and Burnett Counties)
DNR Fisheries Areas
Sand Creek has a nice diversity of habitat types, including aspen, northern hardwoods, oak, pine, old fields, forest openings, and lowland grass and brush, along with two high-quality trout streams running through the property.
The Sand Creek Fishery Area was created by state land purchases in 1952 to both protect high-quality trout habitat on Sand and Ore Creeks and to manage a habitat used by deer for winter yarding. Numerous trails have been created through logging operations over the years, and are gated and bermed to provide quality outdoor recreation experiences.
Location/Directions
Sand Creek Fishery Area straddles the county line between Polk and Burnett Counties. Best access can be gained by taking 330th or 340th Ave. east of County Hwy E to the parking areas provided.
