Lake Michigan Outdoor Fishing Report - Oct. 28, 2024

Fishing Wisconsin

Generally, fishing reports will be updated weekly on Tuesdays. This may change based on the availability of reports and the field staff's work schedules.

Unless otherwise indicated, this fishing report information comes from our creel survey clerks, who work in the lakeshore areas from March through October and in the tributary rivers seasonally in spring and fall. Creel clerk schedules are random and vary in the days and times they are scheduled to be in a specific location. This allows us to generate statistically valid fishing efforts and harvest information.

The information in these reports is based on the days and times of the week that creel clerks are present. You can obtain additional fishing information by contacting local bait shops, charter captains, guides and marinas.

REMINDER – Anglers must carry a paper copy of their license/stamps while fishing on Lake Michigan, Lake Superior and the Wisconsin/Michigan, Wisconsin/Minnesota and Wisconsin/Iowa boundary waters.

Oct. 28, 2024: West Shore Green Bay Fishing Report

Brown County

Duck Creek: Shore anglers caught a variety of species while using nightcrawlers. Yellow perch, smallmouth bass, bluegill and pumpkinseed were reported as being caught.

Fox River Boating Anglers: Low to moderate numbers of anglers were seen out fishing. Most anglers were targeting walleye and musky. Only one musky was reported as being caught while trolling crankbaits. Walleye catches improved slightly from previous weeks, with the number of fish caught per boat ranging from zero to six fish. The most successful tactics for walleye fishing were jigging with soft plastics and casting crankbaits. The water temperature was in the low 50-degree range.

Fox River Shore Anglers: Low catches were reported this week. Only one walleye was reported as caught near the mouth of the river. One angler was able to catch a moderate number of yellow perch near the dam. Popular tactics include casting jig/plastic combos, casting crankbaits and using nightcrawlers or minnows fished near the bottom.

Suamico River: Few anglers were out fishing for walleye and musky this week. No walleyes or muskies were reported caught. Shore anglers continue to catch moderate numbers of yellow perch; however, only a few have been large enough to keep.

Marinette County

Fishing pressure was rather light this week. Most activity occurred below the dam on the Menominee River downstream to the Hwy 41 bridge. A few brown trout and salmon were being caught. Drifting spawn sacs and casting cleos was popular. Water levels continue to go down, causing problems for boats trying to go upstream from Stephenson Island.

Oconto County

Area launches had moderate use from duck hunters this week. Open water for diver ducks was going strong. Most angling pressure was from shore on the Oconto River and at Oconto County Park 2. Perch were biting pretty good on minnows. Many fish in the 5 to 7-inch range were being caught, but anglers were finding good keeper-size fish.

Bay Shore Park: Limited fishing activity was observed this week. Most of the week had windy conditions. Anglers targeting yellow perch had had limited success. Anglers that were able to catch yellow perch were using live minnows around 14 feet deep while fishing northeast of the Bayshore Park boat launch.
