Lake Michigan Outdoor Fishing Report - April 21, 2025

Fishing Wisconsin

Generally, fishing reports will be updated weekly on Tuesdays. This may change based on the availability of reports and the field staff's work schedules.

Unless otherwise indicated, this fishing report information comes from our creel survey clerks, who work in the lakeshore areas from March through October and in the tributary rivers seasonally in spring and fall. Creel clerk schedules are random and vary in the days and times they are scheduled to be in a specific location. This allows us to generate statistically valid fishing efforts and harvest information.

The information in these reports is based on the days and times of the week that creel clerks are present. You can obtain additional fishing information by contacting local bait shops, charter captains, guides and marinas.

REMINDER – Anglers must carry a paper copy of their license/stamps while fishing on Lake Michigan, Lake Superior and the Wisconsin/Michigan, Wisconsin/Minnesota and Wisconsin/Iowa boundary waters.

April 21, 2025: West Shore Green Bay Creel Report

Duck Creek

No anglers were observed at this location this week.

Fox River Boating Anglers

Moderate fishing pressure was observed this week. Walleye anglers had the best success launching from the Metro boat launch and fishing out on the bay just south of Bayshore Park. Anglers caught walleyes using hair jigs in 7 to 10 feet of water. The water temperature was around 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fox River Shore Anglers

Moderate to heavy fishing pressure was observed this week. Anglers targeting walleyes had the best success fishing from Voyager Park from around 2 to 7 a.m. Anglers were mostly using Rippin' Raps, plastic jigs and blade baits. Anglers also reported that whitefish were biting their lures while targeting walleye.

Geano Beach

No anglers were observed at this location this week.

Longtail Point

No anglers were observed at this location this week.

Marinette County

Most of the walleyes in the Peshtigo River spawned early in the week and were replaced with suckers. The Menominee River had mostly post-spawn walleye, but some fish with eggs were still being caught at night. Both rivers had a few sturgeon moving in for their annual spawn. Fishing activity was still high, with the best areas off the river mouths and in the lower Menominee River. Walleye anglers trolling stickbaits and crankbaits were having some luck in the bay. Anglers on the river were using hair jigs, jigs with plastics and pulling flies to catch walleyes. Brown trout fishing this week was limited to about one day because of the wind. A few fish were caught both north and south of the Menominee River in 5 to 10 feet of water.

Oconto County

Walleye fishing picked up this week, as most fish were done spawning and returning to the bay. Anglers were having success in the bay, and the middle and lower sections of the Oconto River were producing fish as well. Rippin’ raps and hair jigs were top baits. Most fish below Stiles Dam were suckers, but there were a few sturgeon by the end of the week. A few northern pike were being caught off the pier in Oconto. Walleye anglers had incidental catches of smallmouth bass and muskie.

Suamico River

Limited fishing pressure was observed most of the week, except on Saturday, when a walleye tournament was taking place. No interviews were conducted this week.
