Golden Sands Dairy CAFO Permit

In 2012, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) received application material related to a Wisconsin Pollution Elimination Discharge System (WPDES) permit for a Concentrated Animal Facility Operation located in Wood County submitted by Golden Sands Dairy, LLC. In addition to the WDPES permit, a number of other department permits or approvals are required for the project including:

  • plan and specification review of the production area;
  • WPDES stormwater permit for construction of the production area;
  • high capacity well permits for the production facility and irrigated land;
  • water loss permit for high capacity wells; and
  • approval of acreage withdraw from the managed forest land program.

August 2019 status

The permit applications and supporting documents submitted by the Golden Sands Dairy LLC were considered incomplete. The department has placed the permit review and the environmental impact statement process on hold and is not actively working on the project review.

The department will update this webpage and send notification via GovDelivery, if and when the department receives updated permit application materials from the applicant.
